The Scottish and UK hospitality sector has been at the heart of dùsal since we first founded under the trading name of Euroquilt back in the early 1990’s.
Our customers would tell us of the need for duvets and pillows that could retain their softness and shape, their loft and warmth, and ensure their guests are always afforded a sleep experience to match the quality of their establishment.
These were the days before TripAdvisor and social media yet word of mouth reviews were just as important and the bedding had a big part to play. We all know that ‘hotel quality bedding’ is synonymous with the high standards expected by guests and our hospitality trade customers wanted to ensure nothing was left to chance.
The provenance of the bedding was also a high priority for them; being able to say that their duvets and pillows were hand-made here in Scotland was always going to communicate better than saying they were imports from an anonymous factory in the Far East, and only purchased because they were the cheapest.
Over the subsequent years – and to this very day – dùsal’s premium natural-fill pillows, duvets and mattress toppers adorn the beds in many of the UK’s prestige hotels, boutique guest house, self-catering properties and resorts where second best simply isn’t an option.
Boasting exquisite fillings of European duck feather and down or sumptuous Hungarian goose down in silky-soft pure cotton casings and finished by hand, the duvets, pillows and mattress toppers found in these destinations really is the bedding that dreams are made of.
As part of our ongoing product development, we were also mindful that there are guests with certain allergies which, historically, would have meant that feather and down duvets and pillows were out of the question.
dùsal were an early adopter of anti-allergy solutions for bedding with natural fillings and, today, all of our down and feather products are NOMITE and Downafresh® certified, with the dense weave of the Cambric cotton casing ensuring a dust-mite free sleep environment.
There are also many hospitality customers who prefer their duvets and pillows to be filled with synthetic fibres, whether it is to hit a specific price point when refurbishing their rooms or for the convenience afforded by being machine washable.
The lower prices of synthetic fill bedding (such as our Dacron® Comforel® Eco pillows and duvets) doesn’t have to mean compromising on quality as the innovative materials are created to emulate the loft of feather and down which, when combined with the 100% pure white cotton casing, creates a high-quality product that are sure to delight in any guest bedroom.
As the name suggests, our Dacron® Comforel® Eco duvets and pillows also tick a sustainability box for environmentally minded establishments and their guests as the unique siliconised polyester ball fibre filling is made from recycled plastic.
This advanced material will ‘bounce back’ even after repeated washing and retain its feather-like loft when fluffed, keeping its shape and ensuring your pillows and duvets keep looking, feeling and performing their best for years to come.
If all this sounds a little overwhelming, please don’t worry – we’re always happy to discuss which synthetic or natural fill bedding is best for your business and can even create bespoke options to suit your guests and your budget.
We welcome direct trade enquiries from hotels and other large accommodation providers wishing to find out more about our products and purchase pillows, duvets and mattress toppers for their business.
